About me

Dr. Mary Elizabeth Trent has been a Licensed Psychologist in the state of Georgia since 2003 and has served the greater Athens area in private practice since 2004. With over 20 years of experience supporting the Athens community Dr. Trent provides individual therapy services to children, adolescents and adults. Trained as a clinical psychologist she specializes in evidence based interventions, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to treat emotional and behavioral disorders such as anxiety, depression and ADHD. Additional areas of expertise include adolescent and young adult concerns, peer relationships/social skills, parent/child relationships, college, graduate school, and career life transitions, women’s issues, self esteem, grief, and stress management. She works collaboratively with pediatricians, medical providers, K-12 schools and academic institutions to ensure clients receive comprehensive care. She assists with obtaining academic accommodations and creating strategies to meet the best academic needs of students.

Dr. Trent provides compassionate and affirming services for all sexualities, gender identities, neurodivergence/neurotype, races and ethnicities, and religious and spiritual identities.

Dr. Trent is a member of national and local organizations including the American Psychological Association, Georgia Psychological Association and Athens Area Psychological Association.
